anatomy of a remix pt.1

im full blown addicted to this song and its derivatives. siedah garrett was a back up singer for michael jackson and another pet-project of quincy jones. if you like it buy it from itunes or something.

i, for the life of me, cant find a copy of this song to distribute but you can easily buy it and its worth the price. armand van helden is an animal. his ‘i want your soul’ uses a vocal sample from the aforementioned garrett tune. also the bassline is from ‘everything counts’ -depeche mode. brilliant! the ‘i want your soul’ singles pack is available digitally on beatport or turntablelab.

the depeche mode video:

fake blood puts out great remixes, but they all kinda do exactly the same thing, chopped vocals, sawed bass-synth, old breaks… i really like his formula though. his tracks turn heads at the club. his unknown identity blogged about here
