i get mixed emotions when i think of jay-z. part of me believes he’s a hustler turned humanitarian- using his status to raise awareness for suffering people. what a refreshing departure from the normal (eat-itself-alive) rap ethic that would be. on the other hand, i feel like jay-z’s whole world leader brand may be a big PR stunt concocted by the 100′s of people on jay’s brand’s payroll. either way, at the heart of it, is a beautiful juxtaposition. glam-trash.

the bottom line is this: jay has delivered many ass-shaking tracks that stand the test of time.

its funny. he admittedly has three songs in the can and there’s already a ton of buzz about his record. whats that about it? anyway, here’s jockin (produced by dianne and the wiestwicks [aka kanye]) in its leaked glory, in case you missed it, along with the current remixes.

ever seen this? its video from the black album dvd, where jay’s in the lab with tim shoppin for beats… (note how he passes on a beat that becomes luda’s ‘the potion‘ ) then he goes and handles ‘dirt’… this clip gives me goosebumps. i love the creative process in any form.
