M.I.A. and Kid Sister have been blowing up lately, but they are not the only female MCs on the rise. I’ve seen quite a bit more club rap, reminiscent of the late 80’s early 90’s. A little reminicent of Salt n Peppa sans waterfalls. Artists like Amanda Blank (assoc. with Spank Rock), Rye Rye (mad decent) and Yo Majesty have been keeping it real nasty like.
Amanda Blank (check her wikipedia page)She’s great because she can spit fast, filthy and gets the party started. I first heard her on Spank Rock’s bump. She tears it apart often referencing Kelly Bundy (married with children). Ever since then she’s been going hard. She supposedly has an album coming out on downtown records with production from xxxchange and devlin (spank rock). Have at it:
bump – spank rock feat Amanda Blank (switch remix)
crambodia – plastic little (pinkskull remix feat. amanda blank)
im a lady – santogold (diplo mix ft amanda blank)
gimme more – britney spears (eli grayson mix ft Amanda Blank)
loose – bangs n cash feat Amanda Blank (mc spank rock & benny blanco)

Next up we have Rye Rye (wikipedia)who I’ve already posted about. I first took notice of her with DJ Blaqstarr’s (mad decent) monster shake it to the ground. She’s from Baltimore and got her start through b-more club. Since then I’ve been keeping my eye out for her. I think it would be great to see her pop off like Santogold or M.I.A. She’s toured with M.I.A. and is signed to her record label (N.E.E.T.). Do it
wassup wassup – diplo feat rye rye
wassup wassup – diplo feat Rye Rye (ddpesh remix)

Lastly we have Yo Majesty! from Tampa Florida. They bring the fire! Coming from Tampa, Florida they come correct with the club hits. Shunda K. and Jwl B. Seen are high energy, almost punk at times. They have two eps and an album (Futuristically Speaking…Never Be Afraid) out. The big single was club action, but the album is really good. Plus, they were on neon neon’s album on the track sweat shop. yes, have some.
hit the bit – ben mono feat yo majesty (lorenz rhode remix)
sweat shop – neon neon feat yo majesty
