Most likely you’ve heard of boys noize (aka Alexander Ridha). He’s 26 and a native of Hamburg, Germany. There’s been quite a buzz surrounding him. A friend of mine (John) can’t get enough B.N. so I thought I’d do my part (So what if B.N’s been blogged to death). His debut, Oi Oi Oi, came out in 2007 but his been putting out singles since 2004. Here’s a vid for boys noize’s & down. I feel like Electro, in very general terms, has gone in two directions. The first is more disco and poppy (lighter but still quite danceable). The second going in a harder direction with more techno. Boyz Noize has most definitely pushed the envelope on the harder side. This year he released an oi oi oi remixed album with mixes by Feadz, Surkin, Para One among others. He’s also started his own label, Boys Noize Records, and put out a compilation (really really good). He’s got artists like shadow dancer, Les Petits Pilous, and Siriusmo. Lastly, he just put together the compilation mix album for the I Love Techno Festi that took place in Belgium this past weekend (high reviews out in the the blogmosphere). Check the crazy lineup(damn it)! Boys Noize has become quite the powerhouse. It was again tough to narrow down and pick favs. I really like let’s buy happiness, the surkin remix, and the proxy remix (soo many good ones though). So, break out your neon.

BONUS: Yello is best known for their song ‘oh yeah,’ but some of their early stuff is really good (they do get extremely weird/hilarious on later albums). Anybody remember the Twix commercial or ferris bueller? It’s hard to take it too seriously. EXTRA BONUS: The Boys Noize song ‘shine shine’ and Blockhead’s (ninjatune artist out of NYC) ‘carnivore’s unite’ (off of music by cavelight) sound pretty similar to me. I first heard the blockhead song, it is a fav of mine, and when I heard the Boyz Noize song the melody and bits of the bass line reminded me instantly of carnivore’s unite.
