Some final taste before the new year

So now that 2008 is coming to a close lists are back……….. (check this one, an amazing & superb list)We’ll get to that next week. Until then I thought I’d focus on two artists that are completely different but who I’m really excited about, shadow dancer and aeroplane. It would be a safe bet to believe 2009 will be good to them. Shadow dancer (Boys Noize Records) just released an amazing single that I can’t get enough of, soap. I’ve been a fan of aeroplane, ever since hearing their flying mix. We’ve already posted remixes of theirs (hearts on fire, etc.). They do the spaced out disco like no other. Sweet and sour do go well together…….

Shadow Dancer is two brothers Al & Paul Farrier from Manchester. They make great crunchy electro, so it seems only correct that they’re signed to boys noize records. They hopefully have an album coming out in 2009, Golden Traxe. The lead single, soap, is out now and killing it! Lots of swirling and crunchy synths (check it out at 1:50). whatpeopleplay.com – You can hear that his biggest influences are Warp & Autechre and he just started to teach kids a new way of dancing. You should go and party to one of his live sets he’s doing together with his brother. This EP will definitely surprise! For fans of: Mr. Oizo, Warp, SebastiAn, Jackson, Boys Noize Already Supported by: 2manydjs, Ed Bangers, Boys Noize if you like what you hear, you can get the soap single or the boys noize records vol 1 at beatport. now, get to it!

here’s the funniest news slip up I’ve found
Aeroplane has been on fire this year! Their songs and remixes are the epitome of glamorous. Slow building electro and nu disco at its finest. inthemix.com – Aeroplane is the Belgium-based project of Stephen Fasano and Vito De Luca. Think psyché guitars, pop keys, melancholic waves and catchy bass lines meets disco beats. Also DJ’s they are residents @ the well-known Make Up Club in Ghent, where they play a mix of old and nu disco, psyche pop, classic house & Balearic. I really like their whispers track which also features kathy diamond on vocals. The grace jones remix, which we’ve already posted, is really really good. They’ve also released four mixes which are all worth checking out (Flying, Take Off, Airspace and a Summer Promo Mix). There’s quite a bit floating around and it’s worth checking out. I’m looking forward to their remix of sebastien tellier’s kilometer which should be coming out soon. Thanks to the 24 hrs blog for the mixes, tacklists and the overall general hook-up on Aeroplane. Taste! Have at it.

BONUS: So to finish things off, I thought I’d post a few track that have on repeat this week. Some new tresh, fred falke, Anoraak, and CFCF remixes have surfaced to keep things dazzling. Plus I have an alt. version of holy ghost! hold on. They’ll keep you warm during these cold wintry nights. Next, I found a interesting doc on nu disco (half of aeroplane is in it) by the art pack, check it out (part 1, part 2). Lastly, you may have heard of elbo (a blog aggregater). It’s a great way to search blogs for artists and legal music. I use it quite a bit. There are others out there, but it seems to be the easiest to use these days. Anyways you have to submit your blog for review to be included in their network. As of a couple weeks ago the stay spun shows up on elbo searches. It not a huge deal, but it made me happy. I’ve enjoyed the process overall and am just pleased to have an avenue to share/use my affair with music. Lord knows how many hours I’ve spent on it. So, to you the reader, thanks! Alright, enough sentimentality. Let’s get to the music. Nothing’s more manly than neon unicorns & hearts. Hell yes. -BFS2
