theme from silver spoons
So, both cobrablood and I have been getting back into dubstep. Rusko, for one, seems to be on everyone’s tongue these days. We’ll get to him in another post. I thought I’d drop some older stuff and work my way up to the current. I first really became familiar with dubstep by one of its more prominent pioneers, skream, back in 2006 when his self titled album dropped. My knowledge of dubstep is fairly shallow, but the depth of the bass is absolutely enormous (it’s got to be loud to get it). He’s 21, but has already reached much notoriety. His song midnight request line blew up at the time. I’m posting a couple songs from his earlier stuff, and a couple newer remixes. He just, within the last month, dropped a la roux remix that I am completely and utterly in love with. Most of his tracks aren’t super dancey but are nice and dark. His catalog is a mile long so I’ll give a taste, but it’s really worth seeking out anything he’s dropped (a ton on vinyl/singles). You can buy his album here. He also recently did a mix for mishka in their keep watch series (here’s the link)(tracklist here). I also got a hold of and uploaded a set he did with benga on 4/19/09 for the red bull academy series(get it, get it!) Here we go!
