So, BFS2 just posted the Skream (here) remix of this La Roux song- and like good blogmates i was thinkin the same thing. So i decided to put up the rest of them. This song is incredible, and its been remixed by a bunch of really great artists. One of the really cool things about a song that becomes serious remix fodder is that it gets re-imagined every possible way. The range of emotional experience and context for the song broadens. I like how each artist takes it to a different level. Skream brought the emotionally dark angle. Check out the original (video here)- to have something to compare the re-imaginings to:
Foamo is hard as hell. check a nice mix & TrackList. his re-flip is ite, but not my favorite:
la roux – in for the kill (foamo’s skream remix bootleg)
The Twelves are a brazilian duo. here’s a mix of theirs from 8/08. they made the most disco remix. i really like the feel of it- very organic.
la roux – in for the kill (twelves remix)
Lifelike is a monster. here’s an interview he did for killahbeez where he talks about some of his production ideals. this remix is definitely the most emotional and 80’s feeling. pretty fuckin dope. i love the lifelike touch alot.
la roux – in for the kill (lifelike remix)
ok. this remix is my favorite, Hostage is nice. we’ve posted about hostage before- here. this remix has awesome ravey piano stabs that sound great with the diva vocals. its got a cool break and some wonked out bass. really nice! check it:
la roux – in for the kill (hostage remix) (my fave)
