Here’s another pys-nu-disco post for you. The emperor machine, Andy Meecham, has been putting out psychdelic cosmic music since the turn of the century. His new material is quite encouraging and I think he’s really hitting his stride. He has an album recently out on titled Space Beyond the Egg. His new works are a bit more catchy and more often incorporate vocal samples (his previous stuff was purely instrumental). Additonally the vintage feel has really been done right with a much appreciated disco undertone. The analog synths, drums and stretched out jams are wonderful. He’s also remixed the likes of Juan Maclean, Late of the Pier, and the Black Ghosts. He recently released the song ‘you clapper’ from the new album and its definitely among my favs of his. I first heard of the emperor machine when I was messing around with a nu disco type mix and my interest has been peaked ever since. First, the video for the new tune Kananana (exactly as I would picture it). I’ve got some originals (a few old, a few new) and some remixes (the black ghosts, filur, lost valentinos, etc.). There’s also a late of the pier (the bears are coming) remix and a juan maclean (one day) remix floating around but they don’t work quite as well for what is the emperor machine. Lastly, I’ve decided to post that mix from this winter, Celestine & Stardust, that we used an emperor machine track for. Like the one I posted earlier, its pretty rough, but we had fun putting it together (I think its a bit better than my most recent one though). I’m huge blade runner fan and incorporating that worked really well for a taste nu disco outerspace feel. I don’t know why I haven’t put it up yet, but better late than never… There’s a taste dubstep/bassline/house mix in the works that cobrablood and I have been working on that should see the light of day in the not too distant future.
