hold the line, love isn’t always on time!

toto – dune theme (dune OST, 1984)
major lazer has been making a tremendous amount of waves recently. and rightfully so, a project by Diplo and Switch holds epic promise and appeal for a doomed generation. the album, ‘guns dont kill people… lazers do’ is due out june 16th !!!
and a blurb about major lazer:
“The world is likely not ready for the arrival of Diplo & Switch’s musical machination Major Lazer; a renegade commando with a lazer arm and a rocket-powered skateboard who fights legions of Vampires, Zombies, Pimps, Mummies and other unsavory forces of evil. The first album in years of original material by these two highly regarded producers, the music is Diplo & Switch’s interpretation and homage to the songs and sounds they have discovered through the years.. The identity of Major Lazer was created by the two producers as a conduit to express their affinity for Jamaican music. The album references dancehall, ska, reggae, dub, calypso, and soca music recontextualized via Diplo and Switch’s club friendly background.”
video for hold the line:
and check the maddecent iphone app, @ fader. haha!
alright, the real reason for writing is to post my boy Nacey‘s ‘hold the line’ remix. its a downtempo banger. an airy southern flip of the original. again, nacey comes through with a slick re-imagining. its dark yet hopeful- sexual and violent… dont forget to check out nacey’s clique, nouveau riche, their site, and his other TSS coverage.
Major Lazer – Hold the Line ft. Santigold and Mr. Lexx (Nacey Remix)
**BONUS**
another nouveau riche cat is Steve Starks, check his original track, ‘i called you’. its a dubstep meditation that approximates what it must feel like inside of a girl’s head. creepy. i love the vocal sample.
and, finally a band that needs no introduction, TOTO !!!
