Cockney Thugg Ish
Gangster’s Anthem -Terror Fabulous
So we’ve finally gotten together on a rusko post finally. He’s been blogged to death, but he deserves a quality post. There was tons and tons of buzz floating around the intranet for a while. It’s died down a little but its time to chime in and give our take. Rusko has been dropping dubstep for a number of years now. He’s put out a bunch of great stuff with Caspa. Additionally he’s worked with the likes of switch, diplo, drop the lime, buraka som sistema, etc. Check out this interview with xlr8r from feb 2008 with Caspa (get their fabriclive 37 cd/mix, amazing!). It was the fabric series first stab at the developing dubstep scene and really helped bring dubstep to the rest of the world. Definitely an important record in my book. I’m a fan of Caspa’s stuff too, he takes a harder deeper bass approach to dubstep (he recently dropped an album, everybodys talking nobodys listening) Check the gig.co.nz bio
“Veering away from the dark, serious side of the sound Rusko brought a highly driven energy and fun approach to the dubstep massive and quickly coined his own take on the genre and turned the scene upside down. His sound appealed to many people outside of the dubstep world as his productions became more adventurous in formula, sound and energy. His huge hit “Cockney Thug” has been played by everyone from Pete Tong, Switch, Diplo and Santogold. And has been remixed by Buraka Som Sistema, Diplo, Drop the Lime and the Scratch Perverts.
His sound continues to develop with different BPM’s that lean to jungle, house, hip hop or electro, either way, whatever BPM or tempo . . . you can immediately tell a Rusko track.” Almost everything he’s put out has been fresh (some notable tracks not here are hammertime, mr. chips, 2NAQ, & too far). His remix of pro nails is amazing and has already been dropped here. His remix of day n nite by Kid Cudi is damn good too (ancient in blog years though). I really like Jahova quite a bit and prefer the laid back style. Cobrablood favors the remix of rootsteady’s ‘soundboy is my target’ *added*. If I really want hard & dark dubstep I’ve been looking to bar 9, distance, borgore or substep infrabass to name a few. So I thought I’d drop a bunch of notable tracks and remixes plus some links to mixes. There are more tracks than I generally drop here, but its Rusko. Big up!

To end this post are two photo blog/websites that have the greatest and most ridiculous photos and commentary. Definitely good time killers. The first is If found return to Julia Segal and her tumblr photo site Skull Swap both are created by Julia Segal, a comedian in NY (all I could see). So far I’ve seen Bruce Willis in seagram’s wine cooler ads (from the 80s), a tiger being mounted by a panther, and my favorite the david lee roth soundboard. The other site is awkward family photos, and it’s exactly what the name suggests. Priceless. I’ll close with Bill Cosby pudding pops remixed. Peace!

diggin on the clipse w/ ricky rubes…
