Douster
Douster, is a name I’ve been seeing more frequency lately, and to be honest I like most of the tracks I’ve heard. He’s a french born producer living in buenos aires, Brazil. He very successfully mixes fidget, tribal rhythms, bassline, two step, and a little bit of bmore. Most importantly, I dig his sense of humor. He turned the Lion King theme song into an amazing tribal fidget masterpiece. It’s a simple concept but it works really well, and it was put out at the right time. People can’t help but smile when its dropped. Guy’s got two myspace accounts, one for fidget, and one for the tribal stretched jams. If I had to choose my favs are his busy signal remx, the everyone nose remix, and TASSPe. On one of his myspace pages he describes himself as “Basically tropical-influenced club music, a lot of things mixed together, from reggaeton to uk funky, baltimore to cumbia villera…. things that aren’t that far from each other musically and socially but were born in different places.” Probably couldn’t write something I agree with more. On a completely different topic, always sunny in Philly is amazing this season. Haven’t lived there for over six years now, but its a swell place. After watching, doesn’t it make PA look great? Seriously though, def couldn’t end it without some of our current favorites. Some other artists I’ve been feeling are noob, Hott City (Brodinski), Momma’s boy (mikix the cat), and of course l-vis 1990 and bok bok. Here’s the beataucue remix of the noob & brodinski track peanut’s club (the momma’s boy & renaissance man remixes are gigantic but available at beatport). Also, even though its a little dated, the riva starr remix of renaissance man’s what is guru is quality. Lastly two minimal gems the top billin remix of the new raziek track, die, and the New Ravers On The Block (NROTB) track droplet.
