Renaissance Man – Aloha
Two acts that killed this summer were sharkslayer and renaissance man. Both hail from Finland. For the sake of space I’m just going to touch on Renaissance man today. I first heard of renaissance man through a sharkslayer remix of their song spraycan, which is amazing. The original is damn near perfect. The group consists of downtown and jaxxson (who’ve recently dropped some individual remixes too). Their percussive minimal tech house style is straight fire and just keeps gaining momentum. While there’s less going on, the kicks, bass, and synths grow into these amazing grooves. You can’t help but get lost in the moment and move. In addition to sharkslayer they’ve remixed the likes of crystal fighters, momma’s boy, Harvard Bass and noob & brodinski, etc.. The remix of Tiga’s my definition of house music has a great building piano loop, beefy bass, and even some thick synths. Really like their original tunes too, spraycan, aloha, what is guru (already dropped the riva starr remix) all get your feet moving.
