Loving The Groove

Tons of great music these days, but its time to shine some light on a prolific artist of the old guard. First, Solid Groove (Dave Taylor aka Switch aka 1/2 major lazer) has been dropping quality tunes since the nineties. The more you get to know his work the more you’ll be amazed. He is def a pioneer of the bass and tribal rhythms I have come to know and love. He also does it in a way that is catchy, groovy, and extremely danceable. To top it off he has been a major player in the production behind M.I.A. and santogold. Additionally he founded the label dubsided which recently has released amazing tune after amazing tune. Nadastrom, herve, trevor loveys, duke dumont, savage skulls, renaissance man, and jesse rose have all released music through dubsided. There’s no doubt in my mind that major lazer’s searing basslines are the product of switch. A little trivia, switch actually started as collab between dave taylor and trevor loveys, but they parted ways and dave taylor kept the switch moniker. A few of my favorite tunes from a couple years ago are his remix of the black ghosts’ face, spank rock’s bump, and blaqstarr/rye rye’s shake it to the ground (feat santogold). Under his moniker, solid groove, the tunes ‘this is sick’ (2005) , and his recent remix of armand van helden’s hear my name are all phenomenal. The amazing thing is that they stand the test of time, and I still love them. There’s definite depth and simplicity in each. If like these plz head over to beatport and grab the goods. Alright, that’s enough talk. Big up!

Solid Groove – This is Sick

Alright a couple random tidbits and current favs. First, a nice bass heavy beataucue remix of this is sick. Then a diplo remix of drop the lime’s devils eyes (best one IMHO), and a new remix of passion pit’s little secrets by jack beats. Lastly, the savage skulls remix of taio cruz’s break you heart. This tune is straight fire. We still dig a bit bass from time to time. Peace!
