Lunice does it all. He produces, in all types of genres, raps, and he’s a ridiculously good dancer. Lunice is young too. He’s been doing his thing for a few years now steadily building up steam in the beat scene, but I think he’s about to kick it into overdrive. Mad Decent dropped a collab remix project with Diplo of Deerhunter, and its burning through the blogosphere. Diplo himself described Lunice’s style as ‘Jerk meets Dilla.’ Rad. What’s interesting is that he’s signed to Lucky Me which prides itself in releasing good music regardless of genre, but leans heavily on soulful broken beats and provocative bass. They just released a Machinedrum ep this summer, Many Faces, that epitomizes that (its great). Here’s an indepth interview that tells the full story on the man. Lunice just dropped his first ep, Stakker Upper, this week (only on vinyl right now). He ties everything I’ve been listening to lately, and does it well.
