It’s Crunch Time
Last year at this time, I think I was obsessing about Washed Out and Lunice. And now, I find myself obsessing again, but only with that grimey, bit-crushed, distorted-sounding jammy shit; that seems to balance nicely between hip-hop and what we all know to be basic “noise”. My interest probably started around last year also, when I got into Sleigh Bells (demos) and then again with Salem’s debut of “heroin-chic art-haus music”. But no matter what you call it, I just really like where the sound is going.
To begin… I usually cringe at a Kanye post, but this ones got a hold on me.
Some James Pants from the excellent “New Tropical” EP circa 2010
A short, but powerful track from the debut LP of Domo Genesis. Respect to everyone @OFWGKTA.
And finally, here’s an excellent remix of Meth & Redman by Ruelz Rekka.
DEF check his other album Distortion2 for more crunchy beats.
